Refurbishment and extension to an existing gate lodge dating from 1825. The works entail the complete renovation of the existing Protected Structure to deal with historic damp issues and internal alterations to bring the building into use as a modern home. A new glass corridor joining the existing structure with the new contemporary design bedroom and bathroom wing will act as the link between old and new. The form of the extension takes its cue from the original structure while being refined in detail. The material palette is mainly slate and local stone allowing the building to be bold in appearance while maintaining it’s contextual language.
